Lyon & food, food in Lyon – that’s what’s on the menu on Bulle & Blog !

So this is it ! After weeks of having to stare at a blank page, my blog is finally back on. I have Lyon Dev to thank for it – and OVH to complain about… But whatever the hackers did to my blog last summer, you won’t be able to see because it looks as good as new. So the only thing left for me to do is start blogging again ! And in English at that ! I’ve been dreaming about blogging in English since I started reading Chocolate & Zucchini, Clotilde Dusoulier’s blog, 11 years back. I never got around to actually doing it, most probably for bad reasons that had to do with lack of confidence and not allowing myself that pleasure. This is behind me now – I’m a 42-year old divorced woman and I won’t let myself be my own worst obstacle !…

I don’t know if my French readers will want to read my posts in English. And I surely do not commit to writing each and every post in both English and French either. I admire Clotilde for doing so, but I’m not sure it’s my thing. I’m not sure I want to translate my posts, either from English into French, or from French into English. I want to feel free to write in whatever language comes to me. But enough about me, and on to my readers, now. Because blogging is all about readership, isn’t it ?

To be honest, I’ve been frustrated about not getting more hits during the 6 years I’ve been blogging. And I, as a both a reader and writer, thought it would be lovely to talk about Lyon and its food environment in English for all the English speakers living here or coming to visit. Just last night, I was talking to a South African tourist and got frustrated at not being able to point to local information available in English. So I’ve decided to take care of that myself on Bulle & Blog !

I’ll keep doing what I love doing – that is cooking simple, healthy recipes for my family, having lunch or dinner at local restaurants, and meeting all the wonderful people revolving around the food industry here – and I’ll blog about it in English or French, or both, depending on my mood and time available. What do you people think about it ? This is your chance to tell me what you want or need, Lyon and food related, in English or French. I’d love to hear from you… It’s so good to be back ! xoxo Anne-Liesse

Yes, please, keep it up! I moved to Lyon from Paris a year and a half ago, and I missed all the food blogs I’d found there with the best of what the city has to offer côté gastronomie. Pour moi, peu importe français ou anglais, write in whatever language you like. Good news that you’re back!

I wonder who that mysterious South African guy was, but we’re glad he got you going about writing in English about where to eat and what to do in Lyons… You should definitely get more hits if you get Googled up as an English food guide to your area… Good luck to you!

I don’t know if that strange South African guy is the one that got me writing in English, but thinking about all the English speakers vacationing in Lyon(s!) or living here sure made me more motivated to do it. Strange what a night out on the town drinking can do to you ;-))

Keep up the English posts so Lyons can welcome more English-speaking visitors…
